In a recent article on International Adoption Macleans magazine shines a spotlight on the shady practices of some adoption agencies, particularly those who are primarily China focussed.
China has been making it harder for foreigners to adopt. How hard? Well, with the backlog building, prospective parents could, as of this week, be looking at an arrival date of 2016.
An interesting read, as much for the coverage of the current situation as it is for its coverage of several players in the blogosphere.

As an adoptive parent waiting for a second child from China, I was outraged by the article. Its lacking in facts, there’s no balance and Sims and Hodnett, the ‘poor’ couple featured are full of it. My timelines are the exact same as theirs. I’ve written letters to Macleans and, like hundreds of other Canadians awaiting referrals, only hope that Macleans hasn’t singlehandedly put the entire program at risk!

I don’t see how the article could possibly put the program at risk.
It seems to me the article was critical of the multilple hurdles faced by Ontario couples who are looking to international adoption, and perhaps the less than transparent approach of some agencies.
If I recall correctly, there was nothing that would be construed as insulting to the Chinese.
I am wondering what facts are lacking. If you have facts to add, please post here, I really want to know.
Thanks!
Ruben
