So here I am in wonderful Markham Ontario, home of IBM training facilities.
4 days of operations training for yet another computer platform, with a dozen or so other folk.
Airport security was much tighter than usual, which was a little unnerving. I kept wondering “What do they know that I don’t?” (yes I know a multitude of answers can be found to this question, but I digress)
The flight was uneventful, but I did get to read a few interesting articles on the upcoming elections in the United States.
A few choice quotes from Thomas L. Friedman from the New York Times:
- “American politics is so polarized today that there is no centre, only sides”
- “When the world liked Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, America had more power in the world.”
- “When U.S. policy makes such a profound lurch to the right, when we start edxporting fear instead of hope, the whole centre of gravity of the world is affected…”
An interesting read to be sure …
